Rejected or Ejected

Any referee must see the whole thing with impartiality, without any vested interest and must maintain that unbiased judgement all throughout the prescribed time in the determination of results. A lot must be in different fence or ideologies when it comes to the recent debacles the referees were in for the NBA current season games but this time it involves the superstars in their own will… from Carmelo Anthony to Kevin Durant. Some labeled it as nasty while for the others they’ve opined it as just and deserving. Whilst we forgot that the 11th, 12th and 13th man on the floor presence were duly recognized by both teams and the fans were all but there to witness the game.

Some have expressed their disappointment through their social media accounts, given their status in the league as role models and risking the multi million dollar endorsement contract they have. Then this meant real issue they got to face if they want the fans to stay in those pricey bleachers aight…

The fans are there to witness high intense and close game as possible as they can and when the assigned arbiter take things into their hands the outcome not only displeases the fans but the main act themselves.. the players.

For the meantime, congratulations to the new UAAP Season 80 Basketball champion the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles who dethroned the De La Salle University Green Archers in the final score of 88 – 86, where both teams have high respect to the officiating all throughout the game. Nice game.

Paquito Answer for the Day 38

This one’s hot, after months of speculation and drama … the New York Knicks have agreed to trade NBA All Star and Olympian Basketball star Carmelo Anthony to the Western Conference Division title contender and home to Mr. Triple-Double and reigning league MVP Russel Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunders in exchange for several key players led by center Enes Kanter and Victor Oladipo. Shall we consider them with their own Big 3? Paul George was on board and NBA fans are too excited to see how this three will fare which was somehow came as an unexpected move given the many hindrances in landing Melo to a team like the Thunder.

Will they live up to the expectations ? Does it pose any threat to the title holder the Golden State Warriors ? That needs to be seen come opening of the NBA Games a month from now. Your thoughts please…

USA Dream Team FORMALIZED GOLD at Rio 2016 Olympics Men’s Basketball game, Demolished Serbia Team Final Score 96-66

The team USA entered the game focused, skilled and smarter with the planned strategies. Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s game plan made the Serbian team paid for it, applying the trojan horse technique effectively masking early in the First quarter lead of Serbia by sending their bigs in foul trouble paving the way inside the paint a bit wide easier for the USA team offensive attack.  Serbia stayed in the game till the early Second quarter until the US started launching points after points and slowly put away the Serbians on their way to its 25th olympic basketball game consecutive win.

As advertised prior to the opening of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Kevin Durant showcased what he got by scoring a total of 30 points on a 10/19 field goals and 5/11 at three point line in a little over 30 minutes of playing time contributing a point in every minute and showed why he was the highest paid athlete in the 2016 Rio Olympics beating Serbia with a final score of 96 – 66 as traditionally done ever since the pros were allowed to compete in the most important games in the history held every four years. Demarcus Cousins held his own inside the paint scoring 13 points and grabbed a huge 15 rebounds against Serbia’s Miroslav Raduljica, Nikola Jokic, Milan Macvan, Vladimir Stimac and Nikola Kalinic who fouled out of the game in the early half.

Defense played a big factor in this US dream team win as Serbia’s gunner Milos Teodosic were limited to only 11 field goal attempts for  messy 9 total points far from his 22 points performance against Australia in the semis game, the same with Miroslav Raduljica. The final game were witnessed by a total of 10, 658 sports fans inside the Carioca Arena 1, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And the US dream team once again shouted to the world who’s the best in the basketball planet that even Zika virus took a resounding backseat with a victory more meaningful for the USA where the game originated 125 years ago.

And the Star Spangled Banner were raised to its designated place on top of Serbia and Spain who finished Silver and Bronze medals respectively. Team to watch in 2020 Tokyo Olympics is Serbia, the youngest basketball team in the competition who made it to the olympics via a Qualifying Tournament and winning against China and Venezuela in the preliminaries and knocked out Lithuania and Australia, but that needs to be seen as the US Dream Team will surely field their best and protect its status as the best basketball team in the world.

USA Outplayed Spain 82-76 Rio 2016 Olympic Men’s Basketball Semis game

BOTH TEAMS coaches, USA’s Mike Krzyzewski and Spain’s Sergio Scariolo played their cards well using 10 man rotation of players on the USA Dream Team side,  Demarcus Cousins fouled out of the game with 31.5 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. An improved spacing inside the paint ended the Spain’s dominance of the interior, and the USA using time outs strategically to ensure the superstars are on the track of the Mission Rio-Gold demolished Spain with  a final score of 82 -76 after an intense and closed calls ensuing the final period.

USA outrebounded Spain, 53 -41 with De Andre Jordan grabbing a game high 16 caroms and blocked most of the important shots attempted by the spanish players at 6 – 1. Pau Gasol silently led his team with 23 points and 8 rebounds while Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson scored a total of 22 on 50% field goal shooting with 12 points coming from the three point territory in his 35.11 minutes playing time. And with their sight set on the looming rematch with the Australian Boomers, Draymond Green were used sparingly and Harrison Barnes and Demar De Rozan were kept on the bench to enter the Gold game with the freshest legs.

Spain could have a chance to cut the lead to 7 coming from a dunk by Nikola Mirotic but Sergio Rodriguez layup ended in an offensive foul after he made a contact with De Andre Jordan in the face sending Jordan to the bench and saw their chance to bubble bursts after Kevin Durant scores on  layup to 11 points, 80 -69 with 1:43 left in the final canto. USA held on to their defensive prowess keeping the spaniards door to the finals finally closed as actually seen by the 10,455 spectators inside the Carioca Arena 1 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. USA will play the winner between Australia and Serbia with a scheduled tip off at 6:00 am.
