Good day my warmest reading public, I’ve noticed that there are plenty of views looking for the right direction or I think the most accurate way to get to the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Rosary of Manaoag which is located at Milo Street, Manaoag, Pangasinan Philippines. The following are the frame by frame instructions I’m offering to all of you who are first timer to go there and unaware or misinformed of how to really traverse the best possible route available with use of national highways such as North Luzon Expressway or NLEX then Subic-Tarlac Expressway or SCTEX and finally the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway or TPLEX which I think have reached the La Union province going up until the summer capital of the north, the Baguio City. You can always check the Google Earth for an accurate and interactive way of learning how to get there without any room for error. Enjoy your trip in a most safest way.
Point of origin for this trip shall start from the Mindanao Avenue extension, coming from Trinoma or North Avenue in Quezon City this is the highway or major on your right facing west towards Quiapo. Traverse the subway and in a couple of minutes you’ll be on the edge of the highway which is very obvious with the presence of clear signboards pointing to NLEX.. Head west or LEFT-TURN to that Mindanao Ave.-Smart Connect road to take the first Toll plaza.
TURN – RIGHT to North Luzon Expressway , if head straight you’ll miss the entry and you need to make a u-turn ahead and turn Right, now using the Cloverleaf .
After travelling for more than a distance of 75 kilometers, you are now ready to enter the very First EXIT from the NLEX by going rightmost lane and follow the rounding interchange road to Toll way of SCTEX, Clark Airport.
Head straight and KEEP LEFT to continue towards direction of SCTEX and TPLEX expressways. This time the speed limit is well monitored by several mobile highway patrols, CCTV’s, and radar system which are strategically in place across the expressway. You’ll notice of some apprehension once you reach the next Toll plaza.
It wont be too long that you gotta keep right to traverse the expressway bearing the signboard read as Clark North, Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac, and Baguio City, TPLEX . This will lead you to interconnect with the last expressway prior to exit to the town in reaching the basilica.
Head straight towards the Tarlac – Pangasinan – La Union Expressway, this time you have an option where to exit as there are two exit points that were both manageable and convenient for your own decision. Urdaneta Toll Plaza exit or the Binalonan Toll Plaza. If you have plans to take breakfast or lunch at the Urdaneta town you have to take that exit but if not, then go ahead to the last and near the destination exit which is the Binalonan exit.
After a more or less 182 kilometers of travelling or an hour and a half travel time, you are now on the last leg of the route. From the exit toll plaza, the basilica is more or less 9 kilometers away and you can be there with the traffic included at more or less in half an hour.
Above is the Google Earth captured image showing its relation to road coming from the exits. The listed distance was 191 kilometers with a travel time of 2 hours and 23 minutes passing thru the NLEX, SCTEX and TPLEX. I’m encouraging you to leave early in the morning and leave the place after lunch if you’re allergic to traffic… take note that there is no such thing as peak season in trekking the road or the expressway since you’ll be sharing it with those traveler’s going to their respective provinces such as Tarlac, Dagupan, Nueva Eicija and even Baguio City.
Pangasinan City is rich in history when it comes to food and delicacies… locals will offer you “papaitan” and “tupig” , both are worth a try ! But before anything else, a solemn prayer and silent wishes is what you were there for and there’s no better way to spend it by lighting a candle in one of the sections of the holy basilica.
Planning your trip ahead is one of the best thing to do if it requires you to drive to less than 6 hours back and forth. Keep with you enough drinking water as you dont want to get upset stomach after trying those local foods which are all alien to your digestion system.
I hope these eight frame instructional guide will make your trip handy and serve more than what you are looking for, have a safe trip ahead and God Bless Everyone!
“Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, ” I am the way and the truth and the life. no once comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
